How thick is the material you use for the metal wall art?
Welcome to our guide on determining the thickness of your metal sign. We understand that navigating through different options can be a bit overwhelming, so we're here to provide clarity on this matter.
Metal Options: 16 Gauge
When it comes to thickness, we offer16 gauge. The gauge refer to the thickness of the sheet metal used in crafting your sign.
Understanding Gauge Thickness
Gauge thickness is the standard measurement unit for sheet metals. To simplify, the gauge number correlates with the thickness of the material - the higher the number, the thinner the metal. For instance, 16 gauge carbon steel measures approximately .0598 inches thick (1.518 mm). 18 gauge steel is 0.0478 inches thick, making 16 gauge steel thicker and more durable
Choosing the Right Gauge
It's essential to consider your preferences and needs when selecting the gauge for your metal sign. Generally, 16 gauge steel is thicker and more durable. If you're looking for added durability and longevity, 16 gauge may be the ideal choice for you.
We hope this guide has provided you with valuable insights into understanding the thickness of metal signs. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to us. We're here to help you make the best decision for your metal sign needs.
Are custom metal signs weather resistant?
Yes! Every one of our signs undergoes powder coating, ensuring they are both fade-resistant and resistant to rust. This makes them suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings, capable of enduring rain, sunshine, and other environmental elements.
How do you mount a sign?
The majority of our products have built-in mounting holes for screw placement. (hardware sold separately)
Magnetic Wall Hangers
Mounting magnets are extremely durable indoors or outdoors where your piece may have a tendency to blow around or get knocked off a nail or screw. Just screw the magnet in and just touch the metal decor to the magnet for a secure long lasting hold.
Standoffs are used to create a three-dimensional sign display without the use of a frame.
Screws with matching Screw Caps
This is the most common hanging method. Most customers choose to use nails, screws, and even tacks at the point(s) in the piece that will hang the piece level. We recommend using screws or mounting magnets when hanging outside for a more secure mount (some customers choose to drill holes in their piece to help with this).
Simply slide onto your vinyl siding, and these strong clips will hold your wall art firmly in place for the most seamless way to display your favorite In Raging Designs pieces!
Monkey Hooks is a lightweight and strong steel wire that enables you to hang your piece of up to 50 lbs. securely to a wall. It takes seconds install and requires no use of tools!
Double sided mounting tape is quick and easy. However, we recommend this option as a last resort to the above two options. This double sided tape can permanently bond your piece to any rough or smooth surface
